2 Days - Hotel and Theatre Ticket Package

Price from £119.00 per person*
Departures from 23rd Aug 2017 to 8th Sep 2017

Single person supplement : £60.00 per person

A story born of a childhood messing about in boats in the idyllic upper reaches of the Thames, Kenneth Grahame's Wind in the Willows was turned down by publishers until President Theodore Roosevelt started a campaign to get it published. Rubbished by critics on its publication in 1908 it was nonetheless an immediate smash–hit with the public.

Since then its timeless themes of loyalty, friendship, nostalgia and repentance have never gone out of date, and its production history is enormous. It was filmed in 1946 with Kenneth More, in 1984 with David Jason and Peter Sallis, in 1995 with Hugh Laurie and Richard Briers, in 1995 (again) with Michael Palin, Michael Gambon and Rik Mayall, in 1996 with Steve Coogan and Eric Idle, and in 2006 with Mark Gatiss, Matt Lucas, Bob Hoskins, Imelda Staunton and Anna Maxwell Martin.

ONLY £59 CHILD RATE – for up to 2 children aged under 12 sharing with two full price passengers

It was first adapted for stage by one of its first and greatest admirers, AA Milne, then later by Alan Bennett. Now it has been adapted as a stage musical by Oscar–winning writer Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey), directed by Rachel Kavanaugh (The Rivals) and with a music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (Half a Sixpence, Betty Blue Eyes).
